A dog's immune system can only react to a protein it has already met. Chicken and beef are in almost every kibble, treat and dental chew in Australia — which is why swapping one chicken food for another changes nothing.

Brunswick Fur Food has been nothing but amazing for our fur baby. Alfie has had an uber sensitive gut since we got him at 8 weeks and runny poos were all we knew. We've moved to BFF about a year ago, and its been the one food that has never upset Alfie's tummy even during the transition phase. He loves and does well with all flavours and we could not be happier! Alfie is alot more settled as a whole due to a happier gut, his coat is shiny and energy levels are well sustained throughout the day. If you’re looking for an excellent alternative to canned food for your fur baby then these guys are 100% it. I’ve got a really fussy little guy and I’ve done everything from make my own food for him,gourmet cans,raw food diets,dry/wet food mix and I’ve looked at other companies that promise healthy human grade food but Brunswick Fur Food win, hands down. Not only does it look appetising but he genuinely loves it. I’ve also noticed a change in his well being and that’s just a huge bonus as he’s 9 years old. Cost wise it’s turned out to cost the same as I was spending on canned stuff for him so I can afford it without an issue. My experience with them has been awesome, we love them!

Nothing else. Keep a short daily note on skin, ears, paws, stools, energy and appetite. Many dogs improve earlier — finish the full 8 weeks anyway.

What actually makes a dog food hypoallergenic?
Two things: a novel protein your dog's immune system has never encountered, and a single-protein recipe with no other meats mixed in. A food that swaps chicken for a chicken-and-lamb blend isn't hypoallergenic in any useful sense — your dog can still react, and you can't tell what to.
Why kangaroo specifically?
Kangaroo is the cleanest novel protein available in Australia — almost no commercial pet food uses it, so most dogs have no prior exposure at all. That makes the result of an elimination trial actually mean something: if the symptoms settle, you know why.
How long before I see a difference?
Digestive signs like loose stools and gas often settle within two to three weeks. Skin and ear symptoms take longer, because the skin needs time to heal — that's why the full trial runs eight weeks. Don't stop early, even if things look better.
Do I need to see a vet first?
Yes, and it's worth doing. Itching, ear infections and loose stools can also come from parasites, environmental allergens or infections. Your vet can rule those out and advise on how to transition your dog. This page isn't veterinary advice.
What if my dog reacts to kangaroo too?
It happens — food allergy is specific to the individual dog. Call us and we'll help you work out the next protein to test, or point you back to your vet if the pattern suggests something other than food.
How is it delivered and stored?
Meals are gently cooked, immediately frozen and delivered frozen across Melbourne and most of Victoria. Keep them in the freezer and move a day's worth to the fridge the night before.
Can I pause or cancel?
Anytime, from your account. Plans run fortnightly or monthly, and you can change portion size as your dog's needs change.
